Blue Water Cay August Progress

Momentum at Blue Water Cay continues to build as we move deeper into summer, keeping us on track for our December 1, 2025 grand opening and bringing us one step closer to delivering a world-class marina experience tailored for Bahamian boaters.

This month, our Category 5 hurricane-rated dry storage facility is taking shape, with interior geometry designed to house center consoles up to 55 feet long and over 50,000 lbs. Phase One is set to accommodate approximately 300 boats indoors, with Phase Two nearly doubling that capacity.

Meanwhile, inside the facility’s corner, 21 dedicated service slips are being readied for marine service and repair—including top-tier brands like Yamaha, Volvo, and Mercury—all fully protected from the elements.

Below your feet, construction is built to last. The concrete driving surface, designed for heavy daily load, is 12 inches thick, 6,000 psi, and reinforced with structural keyways for decades of trouble-free service.

We’re also elevating convenience—three 12,000-gallon fuel tanks, split between marine diesel and gasoline, are being installed. This means when your boat’s ready to go, it’ll already be fueled—eliminating the need for you to stop and fill up.

Lastly, to ensure long-term resilience, the entire site has been raised from 4–5 feet to about 9–10 feet above sea level to safeguard against storm surge.

With every beam, slab, and tank in place, Blue Water Cay is raising the bar for marina development in The Bahamas. For more information on reserving your spot at Blue Water Cay, please visit https://legendarybluewatercay.cottonsolution.com/reserve-dockage/ or call 850.585.4000

The Legendary Marina Resort in Blue Water Cay, Nassau, Bahamas, has made strides since its groundbreaking at the end of 2023. All Phase One floating docks were delivered by Marina Technologies (MTI), and installation is nearly complete. The $110 million project includes a marina and boat storage facility, a luxury resort and Nassau’s only Cat-5 rated dry storage stack.

Phase One will complete the dredging effort and half of the marina and the dry storage facility. Phase One docks include staging docks for the dry stack, a fuel dock and wet slips for vessels ranging from 55 feet to 130 feet. Later project phases will include docks for vessels up to 250 feet and completion of the dry stack, which is scheduled for late 2025. Phase One docks are MTI System D-260 for all mains and tees and System S-222 for all finger piers.

For decking, Legendary chose MTI’s sand-colored composite planks with grooved non-skid, 4-inch soft PVC fenders and corner bumpers while 18-inch diameter steel pipe piles anchor the new system. The dry storage facility will house what Legendary has described as the largest marina forklift built to date, which the company has enlisted Forklift Exchange and Wiggins Lift Co. to help it build.

The project is expected to create 200 local jobs in Nassau. The marina will also include 20 condos, 22 oceanfront villas, a 130-room hotel, pools, waterfront restaurants, a members-only lounge, dockside fuel and a concierge service.

NASSAU, THE BAHAMAS – Legendary Marina Resort Blue Water Cay in The Bahamas is proud to announce a significant milestone in the development of its state-of-the-art marina. This week marks the commencement of steel structure erection for the Dry Storage Facility, a crucial component of the resort’s ambitious expansion plans.

construction of the dry storage at Blue Water Cay Marina

The Dry Storage Facility is rated to withstand Category 5 hurricane wind speeds. Its foundation consists of over 300 auger-cast piles, each 16 inches in diameter and extending more than 40 feet below the ground surface into solid rock layers. These deep foundations ensure that the weight of the boats and the wind loads on the building are safely transferred through the structure and into the ground. The piles are constructed in clusters, with some columns supported by as many as five auger-cast piles, creating an incredibly resilient foundation system.

“At Legendary Marina Resort, Blue Water Cay, we are dedicated to providing the finest marina facilities anywhere. The erection of the Dry Storage Facility is a milestone that represents the culmination of years of permitting, design, fabrication, and now, construction,” said Rodney Chamberlain, Lead Developer of Legendary Marina Resort Blue Water Cay.

The combination of advanced design codes and a commitment to excellence has resulted in the creation of a truly state-of-the-art dry storage building at Blue Water Cay.
Legendary is dedicated to providing the best marina facility, and the construction of the Dry Storage Facility is a testament to this commitment.
